Havana Hosts International Festival of Young Jazz Players

The Jo-Jazz festival -a celebrated international competition between young jazz players- will kick off tonight presided over by the renowned Cuban musician Chucho Valdes.

This year, the eighth annual Havana International Jo-Jazz Festival will see musical composition added to the interpretation competition.

As a side activity, the third Jo-Jazz Colloquium will hold sessions tomorrow with the participation of prominent music figures.

Great expectations are held by jazz fans for the attendance of the Canadian Big Band, which will hold a concert along with Cuban students on Saturday November 26. During their visit to the island, the Canadian group -made up by 23 students- will visit music schools and musical instrument workshops.

The awards and closing ceremonies will take place on Sunday, November 27. That same night, those works receiving awards will be played in concert.

The Havana Jo-Jazz Festival, organized by the Cuban Music Institute, assembles the most talented young jazz artists from music schools worldwide every year
