Havana, Nov 18. – Cuban President Fidel Castro attended the University of Havana Thursday night to tell his people, and mainly the Cuban youth that he trusts their willingness and capacity to strengthen and maintain the invincible Revolution, which neither the enemy inside the country nor the Yankee Imperialism will destroy.

The leader of the Cuban Revolution also spoke about the to speak of the problems of the world today and its future and about the domestic mistakes, the conditions of our people's standard of living that will continue going forth; and about the wrong things that Cuba has to mend, including offences and corruption.

His words in the Aula Magna confirmed that he was the same rebel man that 60 years ago had entered the University, with only one difference: today he’s got the experience after six decades of struggles and the satisfaction of having been always loyal to his Homeland.

The Revolution needs the support of the people in order to implement all the measures not only to eliminate the social disparities, and offer more favourable conditions of living, save resources like the electric power, but also to wage the battle against the crime and the causes of a large number of infringements, the Cuban President assured.

He recalled that in the University of Havana, he armed himself with all the ideas that turned him into a Revolutionary, into a convinced socialist, and assured to be today 10, 20, 100 times more revolutionary of what he was then, and a thousand times more willing to give his life for his cause.

Only conscience, he said, can move a man to the greatest actions of heroism, and it doesn't matter how different we are, because in spite of the differences we can be one in a moment. The ideas are those that unite us and make us a fighting people, those which transform us, not the individual, but the society into a Revolutionary one. Today these values have grown. We are armed of ideas, knowledge and culture, he stated.

We are waging a battle against the vices, the embezzlement of funds and resources and the theft that increased during the special period (1990’s).

As he explained, 28 000 social workers are immersed in that battle, for instance the control over the transportation and sales of fuel which have yielded favourable results in several provinces. These youngsters will have new duties in the enforcement against corruption, and the people is pleased for that, as the state of opinions reveal.

There will be no truce with anybody, Fidel highlighted. We will appeal to the honour of each sector, because in each human being there is a high dose of decency; for that reason it is necessary to use more the criticism and the self-criticism in the work centres, the committees of the Communist Party, he aded. The Revolution will use all its resources, he commented, we are in condition to take the bull by its horns.

Among the mistakes committed in the country, he criticized the erroneous idea of those who thought that somebody already knew about how to build the socialism, as if it were an exact science, scorning a fundamental principle: the dialectical materialism.

Among the problems on which he spoke about, he commented on the consumption of power, whose prices are subsidized and do not favour the saving. He repeated that those who save most, it will be necessary to charge a highest rate.

At the moment, he recognized, there are people who do not live out of their work, but of the illegal business selling gasoline, products drawn from the ports and from the national agriculture, from the stores and the hotels. We will put a curb on those, because it cannot be possible that their illicit revenues are 40-50 times higher than those of the workers.

For over six hours Fidel talked university students and professors, members of the Party, the Government, the State and leaders of mass and student organizations. His speech was an opportunity to hold the CIA up to ridicule for the recent lies on the supposed Parkinson’s illness. I feel better than ever, he said, I have even increased my physical exercises and I am more disciplined in taking care over my health. Besides, he upheld that has been working on the rehabilitation after the accident he had months ago.

The leader of the Cuban Revolution recommended the CIA not to lose time in investigating his health. They should investigate the "Emperor" that leads the White House, and how infamous terrorists like Luis Posada Carriles entered the USA, because till now neither Washington nor the Mexican Government have said a word on this matter, in spite of the reiterated suggestion Cuba has done to make this issue clearer.
