Santiago, Cuba, May 21 (Prensa Latina) In full organizing swing, the 26th Caribbean Festival will be held July 3-9 in this city with the participation of artists and academics from Mexico, Venezuela, Jamaica, Trinidad-Tobago, Barbados, Italy and Germany.

Sources from the organizing committee told Prensa Latina they are receiving academic papers for the Colloquium “The Caribbean that unites us”, forum dedicated to the Caribbean Community nations and to regional integration. The are also preparing 31 areas and four main stages for musical and dance performances.

The forum will deal on issues like the Caribbean inhabitants’ history, culture and identity, intra-Caribbean and Cuba relations, hegemony and integrating proposals, trans-Caribbean speeches and modernity.

At the same time, there will be workshops on popular, musical and theatrical religiousness, as well as meetings with story tellers and poets.

Cespedes Park, La Alameda Ave., the Heredia Theater, the Carnival Museum, the Houses of the Caribbean, Africa and Friendship with the Peoples and the main art galleries will co-host the event.
